53-year-old OFW from Middle East wins Php 27M lotto jackpot
MANILA, Philippines – A 53-year-old overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from the Middle East booked a flight back to the Philippines to claim his Php 27,450,306.20 jackpot prize he won in the Lotto 6/42 drawn last July 11, with the winning combination of 33-17-40-09-42-20.
The new millionaire has been working abroad for 20 years to provide for his family in the Philippines. Every time he comes back to his hometown, he plays the lotto and places his bet with the numbers derived from his family members’ birthdates.
This time, with the use of E-Lotto platform, he was able to play the PCSO lottery conveniently and securely even from the Middle East.
E-Lotto is a web-based betting platform launched by the PCSO late last year. He emphasized that E-Lotto is on par with other online betting platforms around the world. “Sana po ay tuloy-tuloy na ang E-Lotto, malakas po siya dito sa Middle East. Nakikipagbakbakan po siya sa ThaiLotto at SaudiLotto,” said the winner.
The OFW-turned-millionaire attested that his win could influence him to stay in the Philippines for good. He also plans to allocate a portion of his winnings towards business investments and ongoing medical expenses.
To claim lotto prizes, winners must sign the back of the winning ticket and provide two valid government IDs for verification. Additionally, they must comply with the 20% tax on prizes exceeding 10,000.00 under the TRAIN Law.
As per RA 1169, winners have one (1) year from the draw date to claim their prize at the PCSO Main Office at Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City.
